More Rebate Issues

All you who don't do rebates are probably laughing at me now.  I do rebates.  I check them, double check them, and triple check them.  I know when I mail that envelope that I have done everything necessary to get my rebate.  Imagine my distress when I get a postcard in the mail telling me that my rebate cannot be honored.  I know better!

I got two such postcards today.  Luckily they also include a phone number for me to call with questions.   I called and asked what did they mean the required items were not on my receipt?  I had the receipt right there.  I would not have even had the rebate if I had not bought the required items.  The lady I talked to asked me if I had returned or exchanged anything.  I said no, I have the items I bought.  She corrected the information in the system and told me my checks will be mailed in 2-3 weeks.

After I got off the phone I wondered if having to 'return' and re-purchase TurboTax so we could get the rebate form for one of the rebates might be causing the issue.  See, they were out of Norton Systemworks when we first purchased everything, so Jeffrey went back to buy it later when it came in.  It was supposed to be free after rebate, but when I looked at the rebates I realized that we were going to be $20 short.  So, he took it back and they told him that it had to be purchased on the same receipt with the TurboTax in order to get the rebate form.  So, they processed a return on the first purchase, and he re-purchased TurboTax and Systemworks on the same receipt.

I checked.  I have at least 5 more rebates coming through Office Depot that might have the exact same issue.  I guess I'll be making more phone calls...
