Anniversary Date at OWW

Yesterday was our 22nd anniversary. We don't usually make a big deal of anniversaries, but we did manage to go out last night. Jeffrey got some tickets to the Midsummer Magic event at Old World Wisconsin. We've toyed with the idea of going before but never actually did it, but we certainly weren't going to turn down free tickets!

It was a gorgeous evening and a really nice event. Representatives from different wineries, breweries, and restaurants from all over Wisconsin come and set up tables around the grounds. Guests got to roam the grounds and taste and sample everything. We had wines and beers, cookies, cake, beef sandwiches, grilled cheese with olive paste, a completely amazing Swiss cheese pie, apple pie baked in a paper bag, meatballs in barbecue sauce, and more. Not to forget the milk provided by Jeffrey's company. You could have as much as you wanted. There was so much amazing food. We were completely stuffed by the time we were finished there. Luckily there was quite a bit of walking, too so we worked some of it off.

Along with the food and beverages, we enjoyed live music all around the grounds and took a ride in a horse-drawn wagon. They also had a raffle, silent auction, and auction going on to raise money for Old World Wisconsin. There were some interesting things up for bid - a football autographed by the Packers (important to some people around here), and a week at a cabin up north, and more things.  I didn't pay attention to what all.  We didn't bid on anything, but we did buy raffle tickets, hoping to win a $500 Crate & Barrel shopping spree, but we didn't win.

Overall we had a very enjoyable time, and I would definitely recommend this event. I'm not completely positive I ever would have paid $40 or $50 per ticket, but I do believe you get your money's worth! If we go again in the future, I will know that I don't need to take my water with me, because they had bottled water available in several places. It doesn't matter what you wear. We sort of dressed up, and other people did too, but there were also people in jeans and in shorts, whatever they felt comfortable in. Also, take a bag of some kind, because you will want to collect the pamphlets and brochures from all the vendors, so you can find them later. I forgot to grab one from the table with the Swiss cheese pie, and I went back. I want to go to that restaurant and eat that pie again, and I am going to need to know how to find it!

It was a nice way to spend our anniversary.
